A supply is chosen by the total load: add up the current of all cameras, locks and readers and take a unit with a 20–30% margin, for example 4 cameras at 1 A suit a 5 A unit. A UPS-type unit switches to the battery when mains power fails, so it is needed for locks and alarm systems, for instance at evacuation exits. Runtime is estimated roughly as the battery capacity multiplied by 0.7 and divided by the load current. Connect only devices of the same voltage: most cameras run on 12 V, while fire panels and some locks use 24 V. Equipment is sold by the piece at wholesale prices with next-day delivery in Tbilisi.

How many amps of power supply do I need for cameras?

Add up the maximum current of all devices and add 20–30% to the sum. For example, 8 cameras at 0.5 A draw 4 A, so a 5 A unit will do. Running a supply at full load shortens its life.

How do I calculate battery runtime?

Roughly: capacity (Ah) × 0.7 ÷ load current (A). A 7 Ah battery on a 1 A load lasts about 4–5 hours. UPS units and batteries are separate items, so choose the capacity by calculation.

Are 12 V and 24 V power supplies interchangeable?

No. The supply voltage must match the device: a 24 V device will not start on a 12 V unit, and a 24 V supply will damage a 12 V camera. The voltage is printed on the device label and in its manual.
